The full name of the Boelver is Mel'Boelver min Surin which translates to The Almanac of the World. Very literally it is all the information about a fantasy world, presented in an orderly and detailed package. Initially, I had no intentions of writing a book like this. It was only when I was sharing part of the story with my sister that I even considered putting together a book containing all my ideas. On her recommendation, I began writing in the late summer of 2025 and continued as classes began that year. From that moment the world has grown significantly, and along with it I have grown in my writing skills, research depth, and world building.

This project has driven me to pursue various concepts that I had not previously known too much about. Things like geological processes, linguistics, formation of societies, creative writing, and anatomy, which were once nebulous and distant, became things I enjoyed learning about, all in the effort to bring detail and realism into a fantastical world. The research I put into these topics enabled me to create a world that, while fantastical and decidedly impossible, still was faithful to real world processes and remained logical in the context of the book. It allowed me to create a language, one that is thought out and defined, not simply dressing up English in new clothes. It allowed me to create complex characters who have purpose, but are also flawed.

The book itself is split into two distinct sections. One, the Overview section. This section has the general sweeps of information as well as the main worldbuilding elements: history, magic, societies. The things in these chapters are what form the basis of the world in the first place. Two, the Functionality section. Since this book is intended to become a game, the mechanics and specific details also need to be provided. This means individual spells, weapons, environments, people. This also includes user interface, settings, game mechanics. This section is longer than the overview and is decidedly more dense and granular. Together, these two sections make up the book and ideally provide enough information for a game developer to fully create a game with minimal need for major adjustments.
